About Nick- Producing
Nick Sakai is a filmmaker dedicated to telling stories with both social relevance and cinematic impact. He began his producing career with The Professor (directed by Anya Meksin), an action-thriller inspired by Occupy Wall Street and starring Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad) and Rick Peters (Dexter). The film won the CINE Golden Eagle Award and Best Action/Adventure Film at San Diego Comic-Con, establishing Nick as a producer with an eye for compelling, high-stakes narratives.
He went on to produce Bluebirds, starring James Chen (The Walking Dead, FBI) and Ayesha Adamo, premiered at Everybody Digital Film Festival (founded and hosted by Allen Maldonado (“The Last OG”, “Blackish”, “Straight Outta Compton” etc) as well as Going Home, which explored PTSD in returning veterans, and 12, a Comic-Con–premiered parody short inspired by 24.
Nick expanded into directing with Ms. Kiss, followed by The Pardon, which he also co-starred in. The Pardon features John Borras (The Many Saints of Newark), Francesca Shipsey (Servant, Blue Bloods), and Autumn Mirassou. (Law & Order: Organized Crime), and is currently on the festival circuit while also serving as the basis for a television pilot in development.
Through his company Nine Cats Productions, Nick is currently developing three feature films and a television series, bringing his dual perspective as both actor and filmmaker to every project.
